JL341 Suspension Lamp

The JL341 Suspension Lamp was designed by Juha Leiviskä for the brand Artek.

Most famous for his architectural creations, Leiviskä hails from Finland, where he has always sought to make the most of the northern sunlight. His feel for light has also translated to product design, in particular via collaborations with Artek - one of Helsinki's pre-eminent modernist design studios. Nowhere is this better displayed than the JL341 Suspension Lamp. Unobtrusive and beautifully composed, it is a highly practical light source for dining tables, as well as a great way to illuminate any medium sized rooms.

In this design, Leiviskä sought to keep the weight and mass to a minimum, using white aluminium to great effect. The metal has been formed into a delicately curved inverted dome, while a disc-shaped diffuser sits inside, acting as a pleasantly muted but effective source of light. The suspension lamp comes with a 200cm cable, providing plenty of flexibility regarding placement. It measures 56cm in diameter, and is just 17cm tall, so the JL341 Suspension Lamp will fit comfortably into rooms with lower ceilings. Elegant, timeless, superbly engineered, it will suit anyone who is putting together a pure modernist home interior.
