Tomato Chair

The Tomato Chair has been created by Eero Aarnio for the brand Eero Aarnio Originals. It was designed in 1971 inspired by Aarnio's affinity for forms without edges like circles. It was named after the fruit because of the two Os in the spelling that match the two circles seen when looking at the chair from the front.

The Tomato Chair combines three circles that are hollowed out. These are joined and the surface where they intersect serves as the chair's seat and backrest. The curves that are formed by the hollows function as armrests. Never one to forget or compromise on comfort, the designer ensured that the unusual design provided ergonomic support. It is made of fibreglass which makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. It is finished with a gel coat which gives it a high-gloss interior and exterior.

The Tomato Chair has a width of 141cm, a height of 66cm and a depth of 114cm. It has a seat height of 25cm. It is available in neutral and bold, bright colours.
