9209 Table Lamp

The 9209 Table Lamp has been created by Paavo Tynell for the brand Gubi. Its distinct design earned it the Finnish name 'Kypärä'. It translates to helmet in English which the shape of its shade mimics.

The 9209 Table Lamp is made of brass which is a favourite material of the designer. It has been spun and then shaped into a dome-shaped shade. The glossy metal has the added detail of perforations that are scattered all over it in clusters of three that form the shape of a triangle. The novel shade is supported by a stem that is also made of brass. It is a rounded shape that is overlaid with lacquered rattan. It is wrapped by hand which gives it a rustic look and adds a decorative touch with its contrast against the shiny brass. The stem sits on a disc-shaped base that also gleams. The lamp casts direct light downwards and around the space via the perforations on the shade. The discreet power switch can be located at the back on the shade.

The 9209 Table Lamp has a height of 37cm and a diameter of 25.6cm. Its cable has a length of 200cm. The lamp cannot be dimmed. It works with an E27 socket and the bulb has to be purchased separately.
