Indigo Macaque Red Carpet

The Indigo Macaque Red Carpet has been created by Moooi Carpets for the brand Moooi Carpets. It is dedicated to the Japanese macaques, a breed of Old World monkeys that are found in indigo-coloured hot springs at the foot of the country's mountains. Details like swirls that depict steam from the springs and monkeys with eyes that are closed in bliss enhance the effect.

The Indigo Macaque Red Carpet is so vivid thanks to the polyamide it is printed on. This manmade fabric is a type of nylon that makes the carpet very durable. This fabric is also favoured for making carpets because of how well it takes ink. Printing is done digitally using a printer that has computer-controlled inkjets. They dispense dye at precise points in the fabric and they do so without coming into contact with the carpet itself. The printer is capable of high-resolution printing that displays colour in rich tones and sharply defined contrasts. The final result is a graphic illustration of the image with no smudges at all.
