The Tiles 2 Rug is made of recycled PET. It is produced via a process that involves turning polyethylene waste like plastic bottles into yarn that can be used to create a weaving pattern. It is lightweight, strong and hardwearing. It is also very easy to maintain with frequent vacuuming and cleaning with a carpet cleaner and water when needed. Rugs woven from this also have excellent thermal properties. This means they keep a space warm when it is cold and cool when it is hot. The rug is handcrafted by master weavers in India. They use a handloom and the Dhurrie technique for weaving that interlocks the warp and weft yarn. The rug has a minimalist design of boxes that have different sizes. On one end there are box shapes and on the other, there are rectangular brick shapes. The design is inspired by the pattern that is commonly seen on public pavements and walkways.
