This Vegetal Hand Loomed Jute Carpet was designed by Nani Marquina for the company she created, Nanimarquina.

A much-loved icon of interior style, Marquina revolutionised designer textiles when she started her own brand over three decades ago. Then, as now, she believed in making the finest use of high-quality fibres and fabrics in ways that celebrated their natural beauty. As Nani points out, weaving has been in our way of life since humanity's earliest days - it's important to cherish a craft that's so much a piece of who we are. Appropriately enough, the company supports projects in developing-world countries that have kept these traditions alive.

From New Zealand wool to silks and mohair, Nanimarquina is known for investing in the best materials. Celebrating its wonderful organic colour, the team produce these rugs from hand-worked jute, a vegetable fibre. An updating of the traditional Indian Dhurrie mat, they start at 170 x 240 cm and are just 4mm thick - perfect for most medium-sized rooms. The Vegetal Hand Loomed Jute Carpet looks perfect simply laid on a plain wooden or tiled floor, bringing a classic but still stylish look to any interior.
