Poul Madsen, one of the company's two co-founders, has famously said that he hopes customers won't just come to their Copenhagen store to buy a pair of Normann cognac glasses, but will embrace the whole concept of their design. However, it's easy to see why these beautiful liqueur glasses have become such must-haves. Despite his wry comment, Madsen's long-time fascination with the beauty of glassware - and its craft tradition in his native Poland - means these are special products for him too.

Rikke Hagen's three principles of design - choice of materials, their finish, and a respect for craftsmaship - are perfectly on show here.
