Marre Entrance Mat 70x90cm

This Marre Entrance Mat 70x90cm was designed by Lina Rickardsson for the pappelina label and is a fine example of Swedish craft design. With its attractive pattern, soft materials and fine workmanship, it will make a great accent piece for bathrooms, living rooms and even outside porches.

With this rug, Rickardsson has gone backwards to move forwards. The design itself looks back to traditional woven woollen rugs, but Rickardsson has infused this tradition with modern techniques. Instead of wool, the Marre Entrance Mat 70x90cm uses woven plastic yarn, making it stronger, easier to clean and giving it a fresh, modern appearance.

It's a characteristic piece from Rickardsson, who is one of Sweden's leading textile designers. As with all of her work, the Marre Rug builds on older forms, adding more intricate patterns and updating the style to fit the demands of the modern age. It also involves craft instead of factory production, keeping weaving techniques alive whilst using the most advanced materials available.

This pappelina rug measures 70 x 90 cm. It's completely reversible and can be washed in almost any conventional washing machine at 30°C.
