S 43 ST Cantilever Chair

The S 43 ST Cantilever Chair has been created by Mart Stam for the brand Thonet. It was originally designed in 1931. Thonet brought it back with features that crossed it over to the contemporary side in terms of style and functionality. It was reintroduced in 2006 to celebrate its 75th anniversary.

The S 43 ST Cantilever Chair is classified as a Sustainable Choice product because of the eco-friendly products it is made of. It has a medium-height, wide backrest made of moulded beech plywood. It is rectangular with rounded edges and sides that curve inwards to cradle the back. The seat is also generously sized and is curved along the outer edge that slopes downwards. The shell rests on a base made of chrome-plated steel. Rather than the customary four legs, the base has sled-style legs. It starts from the back of the backrest, comes down and then extends forward to form a support for the seat. It continues down to the floor, then backwards and across to form a stable base that will bear the weight placed on the chair.

The S 43 ST Cantilever Chair has a width of 44cm, a height of 82cm and a depth of 52cm. Its seat height is 46cm. It is available in neutral colours. It can be stacked for storage, while the S 43 Cantilever Chair ist not.
