The Akari 13A Floor Lamp has been created by Isamu Noguchi for the brand Vitra. First unveiled in 1951, this lamp is part of a series of what Noguchi called "light sculptures". All play with Japanese traditional lantern motifs, finding new ways to harness their properties to light modern interiors. This is a floor lamp variant on the Akari idea, and will be an intriguing, exotic addition to home interiors.
The heart of the Akari 13A Floor Lamp is a hexagonal luminaire which measures 49cm across at its widest point. Noguchi chose to use Shoji paper for the diffuser surface, in keeping with Japanese traditions. This material ensures that the lamp creates a gentle but effective level of illumination. In the process, it transmutes glare into a pleasant glow that encourages users to relax.
The diffuser of the Akari 13A Floor Lamp features Noguchi's signature at one corner. Resting on three steel wire legs, its lightweight frame has been formed from natural bamboo, while the lamp stands 136cm tall. The bulb is not supplied with the Akari 13A Floor Lamp. The appropriate bulb with the E27 socket can be orderes under accessories.
