This Eames Plastic Side Chair DSR White Base was designed by Ray and Charles Eames for the brand Vitra.

Ray and Charles Eames were pioneers of 20th century furniture design in the United States. This Eames Plastic Side Chair DSR White Base, part of their 1948 collection, was submitted to a competition for low cost furniture designs run by the Museum of Modern Art in New York. These Eames chairs are perfectly moulded to the contours of the body, and were the first mass-produced furnishings to be manufactured. The plastic shell of the seat has now been replaced by sustainable polypropylene, making these chairs ideal for outdoor use.

The Eames Plastic Side Chair DSR White Base showcases the striking "Eiffel Tower"-style base made of steel wire, which looks so elegant yet offers high levels of structural strength. Felt gliders on the feet of the chair protect all types of floor. This comfortable and eye-catching seat is fabricated from wipe clean polyurethane and available in a variety of vibrant and neutral colours to suit any interior or exterior setting. The chair measures 46.5 x 83 x 55 cm and the seat height is 43cm.
