The Eames Plastic Side Chair DSW Ash Base was created by Charles Eames for the Swiss label Vitra.

Since it was launched in the 1950s, Vitra has been consistently recognised for the high quality of its furniture and accessories. As well as commissioning new designers, the label reworks pieces from iconic 20th-century names such as Charles Eames. The architectural background of American-born Charles Eames is evident in the structured silhouettes and industrial materials of his award-winning furniture designs.

Originally produced as a competition entry, the Eames Plastic Side Chair DSW Ash Base was the first plastic chair to be industrially manufactured. Today's design is constructed from a polypropylene shell with legs in ash wood and steel supporting struts, a sleek combination of materials that fuses the traditional and the industrial. Although designed as a dining chair, the Eames Plastic Side Chair DSW Ash Base sits just as well in other rooms of the home as in restaurants and offices. The Eames Plastic Side Chair DSW Ash Base measures 55 x 83 x 43 cm with a seat height of 46.5cm.
