It houses a powerful ceramic mill that does the grinding. The bottles have adjustable lids that can be turned to let salt or spices out or they can be closed so nothing can escape. The spices are released through differently-sized openings on the lids. They are made of walnut which creates an aesthetic of contrast against the bottles.
