Alberto Lievore was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina to a family of Italian immigrants in 1948. As a child he already developed a special sensitiveness in his domestic environment, the living of a working-class family, inventing objects and toys. However, he did the technical secondary education, in the chemistry specialization and, after working in an oil company and completing his military service, he studied architecture at the University of Buenos Aires.
At the same time, Lievore worked as a window dresser and at a cabinet maker workshop, where he designed lacquered furniture for a banc (there he first met Jorge Pensi). Thanks to the acquired knowledge, Lievore founded Hipótesis, a designing, production and showroom center, where he designed furniture with a style of their own. Then the dictatorship arrived, and with it Lievore's departure.
