The About a Chair AAC 23 Soft was designed by Hee Welling for the brand HAY.
Founded in 2002, HAY believes in good design for all and caters to the trend away from separate work and life spaces to a more holistic way of living. Designer Hee Welling is a modern designer who blends strong purpose with a unique visual identity to create lovely, user friendly pieces.
The About a Chair AAC 23 Soft expresses this ideology well. The beige, slub weave, fixed covering is in a hard wearing, but luxurious looking viscose, wool, polyamide, linen and silk mix. It is also slightly gathered onto the back of the chair, which further enhances the softness, and is padded with foam. The About a Chair AAC 23 Soft has an oak base and legs which end in gliders to protect surfaces. The gliders are made from polypropylene plastic, which is highly recyclable. The chairs dimensions are 79cm height, 59cm width, 52cm depth, and 46cm seat height. Tactile and useful, the chairs can be used as part of a dining room set for a minimalist table to great effect, or they look equally good in a shaker kitchen.
