The Toobe Table Lamp has been created by Ferruccio Laviani for the brand Kartell. When creating this piece he challenged himself to create a smoked effect using a tube shape. The mission was a resounding success which resulted in this innovative lamp.

The Toobe Table Lamp has a cylinder-shaped shade made of polymethyl methacrylate 'PMMA'. It is a clear type of engineered plastic that is favoured for industrial applications because it is strong, durable and resistant to UV rays. The shade has a glass-shaped diffuser in it. Made of polycarbonate, it fills almost half of the shade. Underneath is a cable that is coiled into a spring. It passes through an opening in the shade. From here, it stretches out so it can connect to the power source. Innovative colouring technology has been used to create the smoked effect so that the lamp casts light with a distinctive ombre effect.

The Toobe Table Lamp has a height of 55cm and a diameter of 20cm. It cannot be dimmed. It is available in a variety of colours. It is made to work with an E 27 socket and the bulb has to be purchased separately.
