The Trix Sofa Bedwas designed by Piero Lissoni for the brand Kartell.

A major contemporary Italian designer and architect, Lissoni is known for his forward-thinking concepts, whether he is working on boutique hotels or individual seating products. Trix is an excellent example. Created with the prestigious Kartell brand in 2005, it shrinks the furniture of a luxury lounge into an easily transportable unit - providing maximum flexibility without sacrificing aesthetic quality.

The Trix Sofa Bed is composed of three segments, two larger cushions, and a smaller one which can serve as the pillow. All three sections are connected via robust elastic bands which can be locked into place on circular attachments, enabling users to switch between seat or sofa shapes with ease. Made from a polyurethane and polyester mix, the Trix Sofa Bedmeasures 100 x 75 x 36 cm when fully extended, and can be packed into a smaller size for storage. Weighing just 13kg, it is light enough to move when needed, and will offer added versatility for anyone's living space. Superbly engineered, this sofa bed's simple mechanism instantly turns it from a highly practical seat to a comfortable place to sleep.
