The PH 5/5 Suspension Lamp Opal Glass and Metal has been created by Poul Henningsen for the brand Louis Poulsen. The late Danish architect and industrial designer Henningsen lives on in the vast collection of innovative lighting fixtures and accessories. One of the lamps in the series is the PH 5/5 Suspension Lamp Opal Glass and Metal.It stands out with its triple shades which was a phenomenon. The shades that are bowl-shaped are inverted which is how the genius designer discovered the lamp would shed light that had no glare at all. The shades are of different sizes with the largest one at the top, the mid-sized in the middle and the smallest one at the bottom. The bottom one has a diffuser made of frosted glass, which diffuses and softens the light cast. The light is also kept soft by the white colour that the shades have been painted on the inside. The uppermost shade is made of lacquered spun aluminium while the two below are made of opal glass.
The PH 5/5 Suspension Lamp Opal Glass and Metal has a height of 43cm and a diameter of 50cm. Its textile cable has a length of 400cm. The lamp requires a E27 light bulb. It is available in black and white.
