The Mariolina Mono Chair was designed by Enzo Mari for the brand Magis.
One of the most important Italian followers of the Arts and Crafts movement, Mari's work places him in the front rank of modernist furniture designers. Designs like the Tonietta Chair and Legato Table have won Compasso d'Oro awards, and he has constantly been in demand from prestigious labels like Magis , for whom he crafted the Mariolina Mono Chair .
Named after Mari himself, this charming piece is practical and beautiful in equal measure. Created to evoke the style of the 1950s, the Mariolina Mono Chair uses materials in completely contemporary ways. Its extremely slim frame has been formed from steel tubing, providing a solid base for the polypropylene seat, which stands 48cm from the floor. No screws have been used to fit together the back, seat and frame. Instead, Mari has used moulded elements to combine every component, giving the chair a flawlessly unified appearance. The chair stands 85cm tall and measures 46 x 48 cm at its widest point. While it retains a pure aesthetic beauty, it can also be stacked with ease, allowing users to store it conveniently.
