The Akari 33N Suspension Lamp was created by Isamu Noguchi for the furnishing brand Vitra.
The late designer was a Japanese American landscape architect and artist. Isamu died in New York in 1988, and his artistic and design contributions are still preserved at the Noguchi Museum in New York. Vitra, a family-owned furniture company in Switzerland, is renowned for producing quality works of several contemporary and innovative designers.
The Akari 33N Suspension Lamp brings an oriental feeling to the home - one that stems from its elegantly designed shapes and smooth lighting effect. Similar to other pieces of Noguchi's work, this lamp is made from natural materials, such as bamboo, cast iron and natural-coloured shoji paper. These all-natural materials, collaboratively, allow for a piece that adds warmth to any space and ensure maximum stability. Its size makes the Akari 33N Suspension Lamp stand out. The lamp is 160cm high, 47cm wide and 47cm deep. It will work as a highly sophisticated fixture in living rooms, bedrooms and entrance areas. In addition, the lamp is compatible with bulbs of A++ - E energy classes.
