The Verde Coffee Table has been created by Rikke Frost for the brand Woud. Frost is an Aarhus-based Danish designer who focuses on simplifying forms and achieving minimalist perfection. This radical simplicity is on display with Verde, which means 'green' in Spanish and has been designed with plants in mind.
The Verde Coffee Table has a two-tier design with a rounded coffee table surface overlying a larger lower tier that could certainly house potted plants or cacti. The coffee table section has been formed from black or brown marble and occupies approximately half of the surface area, while the lower section has been made from brown oak veneer. A metallic rail runs along the edge of the table, which stands on four tubular metal legs. All have plastic pads on the feet, protecting floors from harm.
The Verde Coffee Table measures 106cm long and 60cm wide. It has a height of 41cm and weighs 25kg. The table can be used as a space to store documents, magazines, stationery and electronic accessories, but it can also be imaginatively used to create flower arrangements. The blend of fine marble, refined veneer and natural greenery will humanise spaces and go well beyond conventional coffee table designs.
